Information about the Gitchi-Gami Trail Association

The Gitchi-Gami Trail Association (GGTA) is a private, non-profit organization incorporated in July 1997, working to make the Gitchi-Gami State Trail a reality. Its mission is to promote, plan, and construct a premier recreational, non-motorized, paved trail connecting the communities, state parks, and points of interest along the North Shore of Lake Superior.

Working in conjunction with the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (MnDNR), and the Arrowhead Regional Development Commission, the GGTA has sought funding for the trail and helped facilitate the design and maintenance of the trail. Please join the GGTA if you are not a member and support the efforts to bring non-motorized access to the North Shore of Lake Superior, Minnesota, on the Gitchi-Gami State Trail.
